Longtime Fairfield Prep Coach Announces Retirement: Report
The coach informed his players on Monday that he would retire after 29 seasons: BREAKING

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Prep boys’ lacrosse coach Chris Smalkais has announced his retirement after 29 seasons, Dan Nowak of GameTimeCT reports.
Smalkais, who was named the New Haven Register’s All-Area boys lacrosse coach of the year, told his players at a team meeting on Monday afternoon, according to Nowak.
Smalkais, a Connecticut Lacrosse Hall of Fame selection in 2013, told Nowak he decided it was time to step away so that he could watch his son, Colin, play lacrosse in college with Union and spend more time with his family.
