McCarthy Vahey To Announce Reelection Campaign
McCarthy Vahey is in her third term representing District 133. The Fairfield RTC also has plans to announce a candidate for the seat.

FAIRFIELD, CT — State Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey will launch her re-election effort this weekend, according to a news release from her campaign. A Democrat, McCarthy Vahey is in her third term representing District 133.
The candidacy announcement is set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Old Town Hall, 611 Old Post Road. Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz will attend.
McCarthy Vahey is chair of the House Planning & Development Committee and co-chair of the Coastal Caucus. She was also involved in the passage of legislation to increase the age for selling tobacco products to 21, the news release said.

In 2018, McCarthy Vahey defeated Republican Sally Connolly with nearly 64 percent of the vote, according to state election records.
McCarthy Vahey chairs the Fairfield CARES Community Coalition, and prior to becoming a state representative she sat on the Board of Selectmen and the Representative Town Meeting.

Fairfield Republican Town Committee Chair Jamie Millington said a candidate has expressed interest in opposing McCarthy Vahey and an announcement is pending.
"We definitely will have a candidate running in that district," he said. "... We're just in the final stages of finalizing the details of that announcement."
