Police Identify Dead Man Found in Fairfield Parking Lot

The body was found in a car at the Stop and Shop parking lot on Wednesday afternoon.

Fairfield police have identified the man who was found dead in the Stop and Shop parking lot on Wednesday afternoon as Stefan Novotny, 30, of Bridgeport, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

The Citizen reports that the cause of death will be determined later today but police said their preliminary investigation indicates no foul play was involved.

Police responded to the Villa Avenue parking lot at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday after someone called reporting a person sleeping in a car.

Novotny was already dead when police arrived on the scene. The car had run out of gas and could have been in the parking lot as early as 5:30 a.m., according to the Connecticut Post.
