CT Weather: Black Ice A Concern This AM, Light Snow Friday
The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement for CT for Thursday morning due to black ice concerns.

CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for Connecticut this morning due to the concern that patchy fog may lead to black ice conditions on roads.
In a statement the weather service says for Southern Connecticut, "Patchy fog has developed with temperatures near or below freezing. This could lead to black ice, making some roadways hazardous in spots. Extra caution should be used if traveling this morning."
And for Northern Connecticut, the weather service says, "The combination of residual low level moisture and subfreezing temperatures may result in patchy black ice this morning on area roadways across Massachusetts, Rhode Island and northern Connecticut. Black ice is difficult to see and makes roads very slippery, especially bridges and overpasses. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination."

Yesterday's melting, higher humidity, subfreezing environment...much better chance for untreated surfaces to be icy and dangerous, compared to yesterday. #NBCCT #walklikeapenguin

WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Some early icy spots and frosty windshields out here! Otherwise clouds and sun back-and-forth with a scattered flurry. I do want you to dress for 20s and 30s due to the wind chill this afternoon even though the temperatures will be in the 40s. Light snow or a light snow rain mix for Friday that will move out during the early evening. Windy, cold and sunny for Saturday quiet weather on Sunday & it looks like rain & 50s early next week it could turn very cold at the end of next week!"

It will warm up into the low 40s with sunny skies on Thursday but it will be windy with gusts around 25 mph. On Friday, there is a chance of some light snow in the afternoon, it's not expected to amount to much in the way of accumulation but it could cause some slippery conditions for the evening commute home, especially in inland and northern sections of the state.
