Suspect In Fairfield Home Invasion Held Knife To Woman's Throat: Cops

The suspect fled the scene, but was arrested nearby, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 58-year-old Fairfield man was arrested on charges of home invasion and related violations Thursday, after police said he broke into the home of a Fairfield woman and threatened her and her dog with a knife.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and according to police, the two had a dating relationship.

He is being held in lieu of bail of $500,000.

Police were notified of the incident by a juvenile in the home, who told dispatchers that the suspect had broken into their house, and the juvenile saw him holding a knife. Her mother had locked herself inside a closet to get away from the suspect.

"When Officers arrived on-scene, they were met by Victim #1 and juvenile #1, who had confirmed
that [the suspect] had broken into their home and threatened Victim #1 with a knife. Just prior
to Officers' arrival, [the suspect] had run away when he realized that Fairfield Police had been notified.

"Victim#1 told officers on scene that her ex-boyfriend had broken into her home
and while questioning her about her new relationship, he had become agitated and picked up a
knife located in the kitchen. At one point he placed one hand over her mouth and the knife near
her throat after threatening to stab the dog."

The suspect was located nearby at the corner of Knapps Highway and Vesper Street, and was placed into custody without further incident, according to police.
