Political Experience: Appointed to a vacant position as Planning and Zoning Commission Alternate in January 2011.

Why are you running for office? This is an excellent way to give back to the Farmington community in a manner that utilizes my significant experience in the field of civil and environmental engineering. I have spent many years preparing applications and supporting documentation, and presenting them to planning and zoning commissions. I am intimately familiar with the approval process, application requirements, zoning regulations and construction techniques. All of this experience, and a good dose of common sense, will be of great benefit to the Town and its residents.

If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus? My focus would be to fairly apply the zoning regulations to all applicants. I would provide honest commentary and pose pertinent questions of the applicants in a non-combative manner. Decisions rendered by the commission must be based on the regulations as they exist, without bias or inappropriate interpretation. We should weigh both sides of an issue equally before making a decision.

What issues or opportunities is the town facing today? The economic downturn has impacted the residents of Farmington as well as those who do business in our Town. Working within the framework of the zoning regulations, the Planning and Zoning Commission can do its part to facilitate worthwhile applications before it. This will help to ensure that the commercial and residential interests that provide a viable economy for our Town are able to continue to make the improvements necessary for them to prosper.
