Political Experience:  I served on the Board of Education for 16 years, 10 as Chairman.  I currently serve on the Town Council as Vice-Chairman.  As a Town Council member, I serve on the Farm, Land Acquisition, Self Insurance and UConn Committees.

Why are you running for office?  To continue to support Farmington’s exceptional quality of life.  I am honored to have served you as an elected official and believe that with my experience and knowledge of town issues, I can continue to reflect your concerns and represent you well in our town of Farmington.  Serving on the town’s Strategic Planning Committee gave me the opportunity to participate in defining the town’s long-term priorities that I am now able to implement and oversee. Tough decisions are required and we must keep QUALITY TOWN SERVICES, EXCEPTIONAL SCHOOLS, AND LOW TAXES.

If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus?  Maintaining core services while being fiscally responsible.  One of the most important issues in these tough economic times is striking a balance between providing services and the resident’s ability to pay.

What issues or opportunities is the town facing today?  Budget, land use, traffic, education and economic development are key issues before us.  Revaluation will also impact us in the next year.  The UConn Bio-Science Corridor, which Farmington is a part of, with the announced addition of Jackson Lab is a huge opportunity we must continue to monitor.

How would you propose to address them?   I will continue my commitment to fiscal responsibility and sound budgeting, excellence in education, and supporting a business friendly environment.   I also pledge to continue to solicit and listen to our community’s input on these issues.

Anything else you would like to share?   I am proud to be part of Farmington’s leadership team for more than 20 years during which time our schools have received national recognition, our town’s finances have been awarded an AAA rating, our public safety has been supported and I have had the opportunity to help preserve land as open space and keep the FARM in Farmington.
