1. Westfarms Mall Encourages High School Seniors To Apply For Special Scholarship (patch.com) — High school seniors in and around Farmington are being urged to apply for the Shari Simon Greenberg Community Scholarship, a $1,000 award promoted by Westfarms Mall, which straddles Farmington and West Hartford. Eligible students within a 50-mile radius can seek support for college, vocational, or trade programs, with top applicants considered for renewable Awards of Excellence. The Simon Youth Foundation will pay scholarships directly to schools starting in fall 2027.
2. Farmington Police Logs: Sept. 16 to Sept. 22, 2026 (patch.com) — Farmington residents can see a full list of recent arrests made by local police between Sept. 16 and Sept. 22, including charges ranging from larceny and burglary to DUI and failure to appear. All charges are still allegations, but the log offers a clear snapshot of recent police activity affecting the community.
3. Bohigian of CBA named 2026 'New Leaders in Banking' honoree : NEREJ (nerej.com) — A Farmington-based banker, Aaron Bohigian of Northwest Community Bank, has been named a 2026 "New Leaders in Banking" honoree by the Connecticut Bankers Association. The award recognizes rising professionals for leadership and community service across the state, and Bohigian will be honored at an upcoming ceremony alongside other standout Connecticut banking figures.
4. Age-restricted housing development proposed in Southington (hartfordbusiness.com) — A proposed 10‑unit, age‑restricted Auburn Place development in Southington could add new 55‑and‑over housing just over the Plainville–Farmington line, expanding options for older residents in the area. The project, now awaiting special permit and site plan approval, would include duplexes, a new single‑family home, and an existing house, with one unit designated as affordable housing.
5. CCARC's transitional home receives funding (bristolpress.com) — State bond funding of nearly $2 million will help CCARC build a new transitional home in New Britain, a project backed by both New Britain and Farmington officials. The home will support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they move toward more independent living, complementing CCARC's long‑standing services for families across central Connecticut.
