FARMINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Colgate University, Hamilton NY

  • Two students from Farmington who received term grade point averages of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses for a conventional letter grade during the spring 2019 semester earned the Dean's Award with Distinction. Caroline Ferri is a graduate of Holderness School and a member of the Colgate Class of 2022. Catherine Ferri is a graduate of Miss Porter's School and a member of the Colgate Class of 2020.
  • Brandon Biney, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2019, has earned the spring 2019 Dean's Award for Academic Excellence. Biney is a graduate of Farmington High School. Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.3 or higher while completing at least three courses earn the spring 2019 Dean's Award for Academic Excellence.

  • Katherine O'Connor, a Marketing graduate from Lasell University from Unionville, received the Student Leader of the Year Award at the 2019 Awards Banquet. The Student Leader of the Year is given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding overall leadership qualities in a student organization and/or club. The Student Leader of the Year Award was created by the Office of Student Activities to honor a student leader who has demonstrated outstanding overall leadership in a student organization.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Kamden Benjamin from Unionville was among twenty Western New England University students who traveled to the city of Sorrento, Italy for three weeks to immerse themselves in the study of Italian culture. Participating students took two Western New England University courses, Business Communication and Italian Culture, taught by Western New England University faculty. Adjunct College of Arts and Sciences professor, Dr. Rocco Mesiti, and Professional Educator of Communication, Brenda Garton-Sjoberg, taught the courses in Sorrento at the Sant'Anna Institute, one of WNEU's international partner institutions.
