FARMINGTON, CT — With a new school year approaching, the Farmington Library is offering a workshop aimed at helping parents understand and respond to children's back-to-school anxiety.

"Back-to-School Anxiety: Helping Your Child Navigate the Transition Back to School" will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the Farmington Library, 6 Monteith Drive.

The workshop will explore why transitions can be particularly challenging for children and how parents can provide support without unintentionally reinforcing anxiety.

The program will also examine the cycle that can keep worry going and strategies parents can use to interrupt it.

Other topics will include behaviors that may reduce anxiety in the short term but make worry worse over time, according to the library.

Parents will also learn what they can say and do during high-stress moments to help children manage strong emotions and respond effectively.
