Construction Vehicles Torched By Fire In Farmington: State Police

A Clinton construction company said the fire/vandalism spree caused $1 million in damage to 11 company work vehicles Oct. 12-13.

FARMINGTON, CT — State police are investigating a fire in Farmington over the weekend that destroyed some of a Clinton construction company's vehicles.

According to Connecticut State Police on Tuesday, officers from Troop H in Hartford were called at about 10:46 a.m. Monday by representatives of Hammonasset Construction out of Clinton.

The construction company reported multiple construction/work vehicles parked off Interstate 84 West in the area of Exit 39A in Farmington were badly damaged over the weekend by fire.

Police said, upon troopers' arrival, they observed several unoccupied commercial motor vehicles heavily damaged by fire and several other vehicles vandalized within a secluded construction yard off the highway.

A total of 11 vehicles were damaged and Hammonasset Construction estimates the total loss to be approximately $1 million, police said.

Police said any fire from this event would have been visible from I-84 East and West in that area, the I-84 West Exit 39A off-ramp, and/or the Route 9 Exit 40A ramp connector to I-84.
