Drug Trafficking Charges Brought Against Farmington Man

A search-and-seizure warrant at a Farmington home yielded a plethora of drugs, weapons and accessories.

FARMINGTON, CT — Local and state law enforcement agencies collaborated early Wednesday morning to execute a search-and-seizure warrant at a Farmington home believed to be involved in drug trafficking.

Around 5:55 a.m., members of the Connecticut State Police Narcotics Task Force, DEA Hartford Resident Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Farmington Police Department executed the warrant at 14 John Steele Road, following a lengthy investigation into narcotics trafficking at that address, state police said.

Authorities seized 228 grams of cocaine, 2.8 pounds of marijuana, 1.7 pounds of THC edibles, 98 Percocet pills, 28 rifles, 29 handguns, $108,840 in cash, $900 in U.S. bonds, ammunition, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia, police said.

John Butler, 52, of that address, was charged with illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of narcotics with intent to sell (two counts), operating a drug factory, sale of 1 kg or more of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to keep narcotics in original container.

Bail was set at $250,000, and Butler was slated to be arraigned Thursday in Hartford Superior Court.
