Faculty, Staffers Demonstrate At Tunxis Community College
The rally was designed to cal out the regents and be "in support of students and Tunxis."

FARMINGTON, CT — A demonstration took place Wednesday At Tunxis Community College over several issues faculty and staff members said they want reviewed by the Board of Regents of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities.
Elected officials were also part of the rally designed to be "in support of students and Tunxis."
The purpose of the march, organizers said, was to make their "voices heard in the community " about issues and concerns "ignored" by the regents.

Issues cited included:
- Increasing workload and insufficient support for staff and faculty
- Loss of local governance and the loss of effective decision making based on local needs
- "Savings" First, not Students First
- Continued System Human Resources missteps and unnecessarily hostile and threatening communication
- Corporatization of the community colleges
"We have a centralized system taking resources away from our students and our colleges while they spin a narrative that the community colleges are failing," said Sally Terrell, English professor and faculty chair of the Congress of Connecticut Community Colleges. "CSCU is not allowing us to fill jobs at our college, and they are taking away resources that directly support students. We are fighting for our students, our community and for all of Tunxis Community College because CSCU is not."
