Farmington Budget Referendum Results

The results of three referendum questions, including the annual budget.

Editor’s note: We ran this story earlier in the week, but here it is again in case you missed it.

Low voter turnout resulted in the automatic passing of the town’s budget after Thursday’s referendum.

The town charter calls for a 15 percent turnout for the vote to count, otherwise the budget automatically passes. Turnout was 13.05 percent, according to the town clerk’s office

Below are the results, according to the town clerk’s office:

Question 1 concerning the budget: 1,621 yes, 622 no

Question 2 concerning the Irving A Robbins Middle School heating system replacement: 1,734 yes, 506 no

Question 3 concerning the purchase of two pumper fire engines: 1,661 yes, 579 no

The budget is about $97.5 million with about $60.4 million for education and $27 million for town services. The rest is for capital improvements and debt service.

The passed budget also calls for a 2.71 percent tax increase.
