Farmington EXCL Program Invites Community Leaders to Read with Students
The Farmington Extended Care and Learning program held its first Community Reading Initiative.
The Farmington Extended Care and Learning program held its first Community Reading Initiative that brought educators, politicians and public servants together with children to read.
Things kicked off the week of Jan. 19. The program seeks to encourage students to grow their cognitive potential.
“Reading and writing gives students an equal chance to excel and experience world and social situations that may not otherwise be available to them,” said Union EXCL Site Supervisor Andrea Canzano. “Having community leaders confidently read aloud to students encourages the growth of background knowledge, complex vocabulary and a love of reading in students that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.”
