Farmington Musicians Share Their Talents with Community
Community Service builds citizenship and students are learning how to become leaders in their community by designing musical performances.
Farmington Public Schools musicians select literature, rehearse with others, and design performances for their community. These student-led performances have recently occurred at Village Gate, The Landing, Atria, Middlewoods, and Brookdale. Musicians contact community members to schedule performances.
At each performance, students select music that is appropriate for the audience and include an interactive aspect in each program. Collaborating with the audience is key to communicating with others. Each performance is an opportunity for students to explore community connections and provide service to others. An important aspect of citizenship is caring for others in your community. Opportunities for community service in the music department are open to all students willing to share their talents.
