FARMINGTON, CT — Mum's the word at the Farmington Police Department, but it has nothing to do with staying silent.

Rather, the FPD is on the lookout for a suspect responsible for stealing several mum plants that were part of a Farmington Garden Club display in town.

Police posted an image Monday of the mum thief's aftermath, saying "The Grinch came early this year."

That's because the garden club's recently-planted arrangement was part of its project to beautify the traffic island on High Street and Mountain Road for the holidays.

In all, 14 plants were taken, police said, with the after-effects showing the surgical precision the thieves utilized in their plant heist.
