Farmington Police Seeking Input For Re-Accreditation
Farmington police are in need of public participation as part of their re-accreditation process.

FARMINGTON, CT — The Farmington Police Department is looking for public input as it goes through the re-accreditation process.
Beginning March 21, a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. will virtually examine all aspects of the Farmington Police Department policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services.
As part of the virtual assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a virtual public hearing slated for March 22, at 4 p.m.

If, for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public hearing but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he or she may do so by telephone. The public may call Assessment Team Members on March 21 between 3 and 5 p.m. at 860-675-2453.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public hearing are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA Standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Farmington Police Department, 319 New Britain Avenue by contacting the Police Management Assistant Amber Rush at 860-675-2454.
Those wishing to offer written comments about the Farmington Police Department's ability to meet standards for accreditation are requested to write to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, VA 20155 or email Calea@Calea.org.
The team of assessors assigned to Farmington are experienced law enforcement practitioners from out-of-state agencies and include Assistant Chief Michael Bussiere of the City of Richardson Texas Police Department and Major Adam Hirsh City of Jupiter, Florida, Police Department. In addition to accepting public comments, the assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and virtually tour offices and locations where compliance can be witnessed.
The assessors report their findings to the Commission Board, who will determine if the Farmington Police Department has met the CALEA standards necessary to be awarded the prestigious recognition of reaccreditation for their delivery of law enforcement and public safety communications. The department received its original award for CALEA Accreditation in 1992 and has maintained both national and state accreditation since then.
