New Jewelry Retailer, Men's Clothing Operation Approved In Farmington

The town's zoning board this week approved a special permit to operate the establishment in a residential zone.

FARMINGTON, CT — A local couple this week has received town approval to operate a jewelry/men's clothing store at their home on Lovely Street.

The Farmington Plan and Zoning Commission Monday unanimously approved a special permit for Steeve Joseph, of 55 Lovely St., to operate a home business and retail operation at his home, which is located in a residential district.

According to the application, Joseph hopes to make custom jewelry and sell it at the location, as well as men's clothing and accessories.

The application was first submitted for the Oct. 12 PZC meeting, but the hearing was continued to Monday, Oct. 24.

Natalie Joseph, owner of Trinhaitia Bijoux LLC, along with Steeve Joseph, Klassy Gents LLC, explained their businesses to the PZC Monday.

According to the town, Trinhaitia Bijoux handcrafts "high-quality jewelry accessories and offers a wide range of signature, handmade jewelry and will offer jewelry classes twice a month for up to five students on Friday and Saturday evening from 6 to 7:30 pm."

Meeting minutes indicate Klassy Gents offers a variety of men’s fashion and clothing Accessories.

Hours of operation proposed will be Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only.

Natalie Joseph said a non-illuminated, 2-square-foot sign will be placed in an area approved by the PZC. It will need review/approval by the commission.

Following PZC questions about parking and lighting, Natalie Joseph said there is solar lighting in the driveway and lighting in the parking area nearby.

At a public hearing for the application, only two people spoke — both in favor.

The vote in favor was unanimous.
