Happy fifth anniversary to It’s Good to Get Out, a social group of senior ladies who enjoy twice monthly recreational outings. This summer the ladies of It’s Good to Get Out went to the Simsbury flower bridge, followed by a trip to get frozen yogurt.
Over the last five years, the ladies have visited the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Essex Steam Train, the Mark Twain House, the Hill-Stead Museum, the Stanley-Whitman Museum, the Carousel Museum, Gillette's Castle, Pumpkintown, the Florence Griswold Museum, Farmington High School concerts, and the Christmas Tree Shoppes every November. Most outings conclude with frozen yogurt or ice cream.
It’s Good to Get Out is free for participants. To get out with the It’s Good to Get Out program, participants must be 65 or older, live alone, drive minimally or not at all, and be able to walk without a walker or wheel chair. (A cane is just fine.)
