Model UN & Debate for Middle & High Schoolers starting January
WELCOME--- Ages 8 to 18; All Levels of Experience from Beginner to Advanced; Introverts and Extroverts… FIND YOUR VOICE!!

What better time in history to introduce your children to the global arena around them. What better way for a child to understand how they, their community, and their world are intertwined than to offer them this opportunity to discuss, research and take a stand on wide-ranging issues involving policy, government, and current events with the aim of fostering respect and appreciation of the viable arguments that can be constructed for the many sides of the controversies taking place in our world today. Our students are encouraged to develop an understanding of many disciplines such as economics, history, geopolitics, philosophy and international affairs so they can draw from them as they make their arguments. Westfield’s Model UN (MUN) classes are appropriate for approximately ages 11 to 18 and for beginning as well as experienced MUN students.
What is Model United Nations?
Model United Nations, or MUN, is an extracurricular activity designed to teach students about current events, diplomacy and international relations. Students role play delegates to the United Nations in simulations of UN committees and occasionally other decision-making bodies. Model United Nations trains and hones research, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Thousands of middle school, high school, and college students across the country and around the world participate in MUN.
What are Model United Nations Conferences?
Our MUN students have opportunities to attend MUN conferences with students from across the country and around the world organized by Colleges such as UCONN, Yale, and Boston U. as well as some by high schools such as KO, Woodstock, and Trumbull. We also attend an annual conference that is held at the United Nations. Outstanding delegates in each committee receive awards. Westfield students have been amazingly successful. At our first conference this year, three of our students received a Best Delegate, the highest award.
