New Face To Lead Elementary School In Farmington
Jessica Szafran will officially become principal of East Farms Elementary School effective Aug. 15.

FARMINGTON, CT — A local elementary school will have a new face in the hallways next week, as Farmington school officials have announced a new principal for East Farms Elementary School.
The Farmington Board of Education and Superintendent Kathleen Greider announced July 27 the appointment of Jessica Szafran to the position of principal of East Farms effective Aug. 15.
The first day of school in Farmington is Monday, Aug. 29.

Szafran was selected from a pool of approximately 40 candidates.
Over the course of her career, she served the Suffield Public Schools as a teacher and math specialist from 2005-2017 and within the Bolton Public Schools as the K-8 Assistant Principal of the Bolton Center School from 2017 to 2022.

Greider said “Jessica Szafran is an outstanding instructional leader committed to excellence. She understands the importance of establishing strong and lasting relationships with all constituencies as it is the foundation of our collective continuous improvement efforts."
Farmington Board of Education Chairman Liz Fitzsimmons said, “on behalf of the board of education, we enthusiastically welcome Jessica Szafran to the Farmington Public Schools. Ms. Szafran’s care, compassion and love of learning were evident throughout her interview with the Board of Education."
Szafran expressed excitement about her appointment.
“I am thrilled to join the East Farms school community and Farmington Public Schools. I look forward to leading a school community dedicated to empowering all students to meet or exceed high academic expectations as well as working with a community that values the relationships and partnerships among students, families and staff to ensure all students feel a belonging and achieve personal and academic success," she said in a statement.
