Police Probe Brazen Smash-And-Grab At Mall Jewelry Store
Farmington police said the incident happened earlier this month at the Westfarms Mall, which is located in Farmington and West Hartford.

FARMINGTON/WEST HARTFORD, CT — Farmington police are investigating a brazen, smash-and-grab larceny incident at a jewelry store in the Westfarms Mall earlier this month.
Monday, the FPD released a brief statement on the matter, which happened on March 7. It did so to clear up misinformation that has been circulating within the community while the probe continues.
Police didn't divulge many details, only to say the investigation is ongoing and no further information would be released.

The FPD, however, confirmed the incident was at the "Banter by Piercing Pagoda" store at about 4 p.m. that day in the mall, which is located in Farmington and West Hartford.
Police issued the information in response to "social media chatter" that was indicating the incident was something that it was not.

"We are aware of trending social media chatter concerning a larceny that occurred at the Westfarms Mall," wrote the FPD.
"The incident was not a robbery, and no firearms were displayed or implied."
The FPD said its detective unit is investigating and no arrests have been made yet.
