Wild Police Chase In Farmington Injures Officer, Suspect

Incident happened Thursday afternoon, with Route 4 closed for a period of time.

FARMINGTON, CT — A wild police chase ended Thursday afternoon with one suspect in custody and one officer taken to the hospital.

According to the Farmington Police Department, at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, several local officers were about to stop a suspect wanted on a felony arrest warrant.

That's when the 34-year-old suspect, police said, engaged officers in pursuit, even ramming a Farmington Police Department vehicle "several times."

Eventually, the pursuit ended on Farmington Avenue (Route 4), just west of the intersection with Main Street.

The suspect, who police have yet to identify, was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, according to police.

Meanwhile, one Farmington police officer was transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained "during the capture of the suspect."

Police did not name the officer or indicate the nature of the injuries.

As a result of the incident, Farmington Avenue was closed for approximately two hours while investigators from the Farmington Police Department documented the crime scene.

Police said the investigation is active and no further information will be released Thursday.
