Two FHS Music Capstone Students Present Projects in the Community

Two Performer to Podium Capstone students present independent projects on March 14th at the town library and for a student audience .

Farmington High School offers a unique opportunity for students in their senior year through the capstone program. Students select an area of interest which they research and present an independent project at school or in the community. One of the many capstone courses offered is the music course called, "Performer to Podium". Student musicians who have performed in their school music program for years become the leader (at the podium) of an independent project. By leading their own learning through the capstone program, students discover unique problems to solve.

Two Performer to Podium Capstone students will present their work on Weds., March 14th. Ashley Vogler will present her findings on careers combining music and business. She has interviewed professionals in a variety of work settings and researched music industry jobs. Ashley will give two presentations to FHS students who may be interested in this career path. Sasha Goldblatt researched audience response related to selection the of repertoire. She is interested in the types of music people enjoy and how programming a variety of repertoire could increase audience participation. The final performance at the town library is the last in a series of programs where she surveyed her audience measuring their response to musical selections presented. Both students are interested in a career path combining their passion for music with business.
