Ebola has not been ruled out, however, and other tests are being done.

Update, 12:30 p.m.

UConn Dr. Paul Skolnik said that the man who is being monitored for Ebola has a low-level risk of having the disease. He has a fever and muscle aches, which are also symptoms of other diseases - such as malaria.

While the risk of having Ebola is low, it is not being ruled out as of yet and all appropriate tests are being done.

The man traveled to Liberia in November 2014, and returned on April 30. While he was in Liberia, he was helping with Ebola efforts and was present at treatment centers, but did not have direct patient contact.

Skolnik said that the man’s symptoms started a day or two ago and that he walked into the UConn Health Center emergency department at 7:17 p.m. on Tuesday.

All protocols were followed and Skolnik is pleased with how everything went. He said no one is going to be quarantined.

Testing is being done and Skolnik said the test results may be back within 24 hours.

No diagnosis has been made as of yet, but the man is in good and stable condition.
