CL&P believes that approx. 70% of power will be restored by midnight tonight.

Evening:
Restoration and Recovery Efforts
During the day today CL&P encountered a significant unforeseen complication in the restoration effort in Farmington. Areas that had previously been restored are now without power. A main transmission line was compromised and it is uncertain when that problem will be fixed. Crews are working on the problem. Town officials will be meeting with CL&P officials at 8:00 pm to receive an updated report. The Town shares our resident’s frustration on the inability to communicate more specific details regarding restoration timelines and which neighborhoods will be restored next. CL&P is unable to give us this information.

The Town met with CL&P Representatives this morning and CL&P believes that approx. 70% of power will be restored by midnight tonight. Based on our experience with CL&P throughout this crisis, the Town is distrustful that CL&P will meet this deadline.

Residents should be aware that after power is restored to your home, there is a good chance that your power will go out for short periods of time over the next 24 hours while restoration efforts continue in the area. This is a normal occurrence while power restoration moves forward.
Elections
A determination about municipal elections will be made by 12:00 noon today.
Solicitor Permit
There are tree and debris contractors going door-to-door offering private services for a fee. Residents should request proof of a Town of Farmington solicitor permit from any contractor who approaches them for services. A solicitor permit only guarantees that the contractor has appropriate insurance, not quality or reliability of services as provided.
Home Electric Line Service
For residents who must reattach their electrical services to their home, CL&P will provide licensed electricians free of charge. Residents can submit a request for service by calling CL&P at 1-888-544-4826.
CL&P Contact Number
Residents should continue to report to CL&P any remaining power outages. Do not assume that CL&P is aware of all individual residential outages. This is especially true when large sections of neighborhoods are restored and individual homes remain without service. Outages can be reported to CL&P at 1-800-286-2000.
Emergency Shelter
The Town’s emergency shelter located at the Farmington High School will remain open. Residents are encouraged to bring their own bedding, medications toiletries and personal items.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Farmington has a limited supply of carbon monoxide detectors donated to the state by United Technologies Corporation. There are only 5000 available statewide. Our limited supply will be available on a first come first served basis at the three main fire stations East Farmington, Farmington Fire and Tunxis Hose. Brush Removal
The Town’s compost station located at Tunxis Mead Park off of Red Oak Hill Road will be open extended hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. seven days a week until further notice. The Town is prepared to remove debris from the storm including brush and logs up to 12 inches in diameter and no more than 6 feet long provided it is brought to the curbside.
FEMA Services
When the Town has more information about Federal Emergency Management Assoc. (FEMA) and Small Business Administration (SBA) resources for residents and businesses, we will get that information out to you.
More information will be provided when it is available.
