Veteran Farmington School Chief's Contract Extended
The longtime superintendent of schools in Farmington will be on board until at least 2026.

FARMINGTON, CT — The town's longtime school chief will be leading Farmington schools for a few more years after the local school board unanimously extended her contract.
The Farmington Board of Education voted unanimously June 2 to extend veteral School chief Kathleen C. Greider's contract through the 2025-26 school year.
The new, three-year pact also covers the 2023-24 year and the 2024-25 year, it calls for a salary hike of 2 percent in 2023-24.

Greider, who was hired in 2009 and was the state's superintendent of the year in 2019, earns nearly $275,000 per year.
The contract extension came at a special meeting June 5 after a one-hour, executive session to go over her evaluation.

The special meeting was prior to the board's regular meeting that night.
It did not feature any significant public comment in open session, other than motions to approve the new pact.
No terms of the deal were discussed in the open session, with the only comments at the meeting being the pay raise and a "congratulations" uttered by Farmington Board of Education Chairperson Elizabeth Fitzsimmons.
"Thank you so much, I appreciate it," said Greider after her deal was extended.
