Farmington Group To Help Decide Distribution Of Elementary School Children
The local school system is looking for folks to help advise the Farmington school board on elementary school population issues.

FARMINGTON, CT — Local school officials are looking for volunteers to serve on a committee charged with analyzing the town's elementary school enrollment to advise the school board on possibly redistributing elementary school pupils in local schools.
Those seeking to serve on the committee have until Friday, Feb. 10, to apply online.
The first meeting is tentatively slated for early March with a final report expected to e submitted to the Farmington Board of Education in December 2023.

The new group is called the Elementary Ad Hoc Committee and its charge is to "review elementary school enrollment projections, assess overall utilization of the elementary school facilities and to identify options that the district can implement to balance enrollment across facilities."
Committee members will help the school board potentially redistribute where each of the towns' elementary school students will come from.

"We are seeking one applicant each as a representative from East Farms, Noah Wallace, Union, and West District," the school board said in a statement. "In addition, we are hopeful to have two non-elementary school affiliated community members selected to the committee."
The tentative meeting schedule is as follows: Monday, March 6, 5:30 p.m.; Monday, May 8, 5:30 p.m.; Monday, June 12, 5:30 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 6, 5:30 p.m.; and Monday, Nov. 20, 5:30 p.m.
