Wethersfield Man Accused Of Fleeing Serious Farmington Crash: Police

The accident on Route 177 in Farmington required one crash victim to be extricated from the wreckage.

FARMINGTON, CT — A Wethersfield man has been charged with evading the scene of a crash that injured another motorist in Farmington on Tuesday morning.

According to the Farmington Police Department, the suspect is identified as Joseph Ringrose, 27, of Wethersfield.

Police said he was charged with evading responsibility and making an improper turn.

Ringrose was released on a $5,000 bond and will appear in Torrington Superior Court on Feb. 5, police said.

According to the FPD, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at about 8:30 a.m., officers responded to Plainville Avenue (Route 177) near Morea Road for a report of a vehicle striking a tree.

"Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and assessed the operator, who was conscious and alert but required extrication," wrote the FPD in a release Friday afternoon.

The extent of the operator’s injuries is "unknown at this time," police said.

The operator was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Police said that, during the initial investigation, officers determined a second vehicle was involved and fled the scene.

With the assistance of Connecticut State Police, the evading vehicle was located in Burlington and Ringrose was taken into custody.
