In this season of reflection and renewal, you are invited to get to know Congregation Kol Haverim, a vibrant Reform Jewish synagogue in Glastonbury. Leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, are informal events to help us prepare and remember. There are services for erev Rosh Hashanah (the New Year) on September 16, and two separate services for the first day of Rosh Hashanah -- a traditional service and an alternative worship -- on September 17. Then, as we do each year, we “cast off” our transgressions in a ritual called Tashlich at the Rocky Hill ferry at 4 p.m. A thoughtful study session and second-day services follow on September 18.
In observation of Yom Kippur, we will host a Kol Nidre service on September 25, and traditional and alternative services on September 26. Several events will round out this most holy day of service, including a special study session, music and meditation, a healing service, and shofar blast.
The fall season is joyous for the Kol Haverim community, with sukkah building parties, harvest celebrations, a musical Simchat Torah, pumpkin picking, and the warmth of good friends! Visit our website, www.kolhaverim.org, for our High Holy Day schedule, and a link to details about our events.
