Annual Town Meeting Set To Consider Glastonbury’s 2026–27 Budget

GLASTONBURY, CT — Voters and residents eligible to participate in town meetings are scheduled to consider Glastonbury’s proposed municipal and education budgets for the 2026–27 fiscal year at the town’s Annual Town Meeting.

The meeting is slated for Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. in person in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 2155 Main St., and will also be accessible by Zoom video conferencing, according to a legal notice issued by the town of Glastonbury.

Residents will review and comment on proposed budgets for the General Fund, Town operations, Debt Service and Transfers, Education, the Capital Improvement Program and the Sewer Operating Fund. Participants will have the right to submit written and oral comments and ask questions on the full budget package.

Proposed General Fund revenues (total: $202.47 million)

  • Taxes: $185.81 million
  • Licenses and permits: $1.69 million
  • Intergovernmental revenue: $8.70 million
  • Charges for services: $1.54 million
  • Other revenue: $3.96 million
  • Use of fund balance: $775,000

  • Town operations: $54.61 million
  • Debt service and transfers: $11.63 million
  • Education: $136.23 million

Major spending categories within town operations include public safety ($18.47 million), physical services ($8.36 million), administrative services ($7.47 million), leisure and culture ($7.68 million), and general government ($4.41 million).

Capital Improvement Program

  • Capital Reserve Fund: $8.10 million
  • Town Aid Road: $617,956
  • Sewer Sinking Fund: $465,000

Special Revenue Funds

  • Sewer Operating Fund: $3.82 million

Additional revenue funds — including recreation activities, police private duty, riverfront park operations, and bulky waste closure — were listed as subject to fluctuation and not legally adopted.

Town officials said full budget information and summaries will be available on the town’s website ahead of the meeting. No votes or amendments were recorded in the notice; formal consideration and public comment are scheduled for the Jan. 27 session.
