Apple Harvest Festival 5k Races to Take Place on Oct. 14

Information provided by the Glastonbry Chamber of Commerce:

The Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce will hold the 38th Annual Apple Harvest Festival 5k road races on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Riverfront Park on Welles Street.

The 5k road race/walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. from the ball field at the park. Runners will race down by the festival fairgrounds behind the community center, and then turn right onto Glastonbury Boulevard.

The route will continue onto Main Street to Pratt Street and will loop around back to the park. $25 online registration is will be open until October 11; Day of registration is $30. Official 2012 Apple Harvest Festival t-shirts will be provided to the first 150k registrants. Registered runners may pick up their bibs and race tee at the Pie Booth at the entrance of the Apple Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 13^th from 10am – 5pm.

A 1k Youth Race will also take place at 10:30 a.m. following the 5k. This race is open to youth age 13 and under. The 1k race will loop around the fields at Riverfront Park. The entry fee for the 1k is $5 cash on the day of the race. There is no pre-registration.

All times for the 5k and 1k will be monitored and recorded by Last Mile, with official times posted shortly after the race. Split times for the 5k race will be available at the first and second mile mark on the course. Runners of both races will be entered into categories based on their age the day of the race.

The Kidz Fun Run will begin immediately following the 5k at approximately 9:35 a.m. Youngsters that simply want to have some fun are encourage to enter this short event that will go around the perimeter of a few fields. There is no fee to enter the Kidz Fun Run. All participants will receive a special goodie bag.

An awards ceremony for all race winners will be held at approximately 10:45 a.m.
