Arrest Made In Glastonbury Arson Involving Home With Kids Inside

One suspect has been charged in a Glastonbury arson case and a second suspect is wanted, police said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Glastonbury police have levied charges against one suspect in an arson case involving a house with children inside, while a second suspect remained at large on Monday, according to a report.

Police announced the Friday arrest on Monday.

Ahmad Lababneh, 27, was taken into custody on a warrant related to a house fire that was "intentionally set" in the early morning hours of Sept. 25 at 138 Naubuc Ave. in Glastonbury, according to a warrant.

Lababneh is accused of conspiring to light two vehicles and a home on fire while the home was occupied by multiple people, including two small children, according to a warrant.

His accomplice was identified as 23 year old Momen Mockless Almefleh.

The occupants of the home escaped the blaze unharmed, police said.

Lababneh was charged with:

  • First-degree arson
  • 3 counts of first-degree criminal mischief
  • 5 counts of first-degree reckless endangerment
  • conspiracy to commit arson in the first degree
  • 3 counts of conspiracy to commit Criminal Mischief in the first degree

His bail was set at $750,000 for the case and he is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 30, police said.

Almefleh is still at large and is wanted by the Glastonbury Police Department for similar charges related to the case. Almefleh is believed to have fled the country to Amman, Jordan, shortly after being interviewed by police, but his current location is unknown, police said.
