Fire Inspector Helps Seniors with Safety
Rocky Hill Fire Inspector Frank Kelley stops by The Lodge at Cold Spring to help educate seniors in fire safety and emergency planning.

At The Lodge at Cold Spring, giving residents a fulfilling, independent lifestyle is paramount. However, safety and security of the residents is also one of the hallmarks of the community. During the afternoon of Thursday the 19th, Frank Kelley, Fire Inspector for the Rocky Hill Fire Department, stopped by to discuss fire safety and emergency plans with senior residents.
Mr. Kelley started the lecture by explaining that as the times change, so do the ways people have to keep themselves safe. He explained that old practices, such as people hanging up shag rugs on the walls in the 60s, can be extremely hazardous in today’s environment. He also went over emergency evacuation plans with all of the residents, thoroughly going over what they should and should not do in case of an emergency in the building. Mr. Kelley will be back at The Lodge next week on Thursday the 26th to go over safety hazards and evacuation plans for those that couldn’t make it or want more information. The retirement lifestyle at The Lodge is supposed to be fun and carefree, but also safe and secure.
