Introduction to Independent Senior Retirement Living

An introduction to my blog, which will show the active and enriching lifestyle of independent senior retirement living.

After a lifetime of hard work and responsibility, it’s time to relax and enjoy life. That’s what independent retirement living is all about. Imagine waking up in the morning with nothing to worry about except deciding which activities to participate in, which friend to have lunch with, and what to wear to that evening’s special event. There’s a warm, inviting sense of community at The Lodge at Cold Spring that you won’t experience anywhere else.

That is the purpose of this blog: to show the Rocky Hill and neighboring communities just how great senior retirement living can be. With this kind of lifestyle, the door is open to a world of new friends and engaging, life-enriching activities. Just look at some of the great events that are offered this month at The Lodge. Have you ever wanted to try the new fitness/dance craze Zumba? The Lodge offers a Zumba class adjusted for seniors. Also, the classes are broken up into standing and seated, so each person can feel comfortable while having fun and exercising.

There are events that exercise the mind as well. Local renowned poet Andy Weil holds occasional classes to guide residents into identifying and expressing their feelings. He has also shared his work, which topics ranging from mid-life crises and old age to computer addicted, dot-com America. The safety of senior residents is also one of the hallmarks of The Lodge, and one of the more important events this month is an open forum presented by Excella Healthcare. The Lodge regularly holds seminars and discussions such as that to ensure that residents feel safe and secure in their community.
