Jerome Riley Sings the Oldies

A former member of Herb Reed's Platters sings classic tunes for residents and guests at The Lodge at Cold Spring.

Jerome Riley came to the Lodge at Cold Spring to share music with residents as a special treat for Labor Day. For those who don’t know, Jerome won a role as a lead singer for Herb Reed and the Platters in the 80s. On Jerome’s website, it says that one audience member once said to him, “Although you are earthly, your voice is heavenly.” Jerome’s voice was indeed very heavily. “Music these days isn’t like it used to be,” said one Lodge resident, “The songs he sang brought back a lot of memories of the good old days.”

Jerome entertained residents and guests with Platters songs, and even did some renditions of some other oldies. Some songs he sang were “Only You,” “(You’ve Got) Personality,” and “My Love.” He encouraged the audience to clap and dance as he sang, and even had some sing along to certain songs. In between songs, Jerome kept the audience entertained by sharing stories and even cracking a few jokes. After a meal which consisted of BBQ Chicken and grilled ribeye steaks, Jerome and his music put the icing on the cake for a great Labor Day.
