Lodge at Cold Spring Gears Up for Car Show

Staff and residents get ready for the 4th Annual Car Show.

The Lodge at Cold Spring will be holding its 4th annual car show on Saturday, September 15 starting at 10:00 AM. All of the proceeds for the event are going Seniors Have Dreams Too, which is similar to The Make-A-Wish Foundation except for senior citizens with limited resources. Last year, The Lodge’s car show raised the most money the organization has ever gotten from one group.

There’s plenty of fun to be had too. There will be trophies for winners of the show, a 50/50 raffle, food prepared fresh by The Lodge’s chefs, and live entertainment featuring 50s and 60s music. “The day goes by really quick because everyone is there for one reason; to have a good time,” said The Lodge’s Events Coordinator Margie Girardi.

The Lodge’s residents really enjoy it as well. They love the old cars (especially ones with rumble seats), as they bring back memories of old cars they, or their family members, once had. “Seeing everyone have fun, and seeing others get their cars recognized is my favorite part,” said Lodge maintenance person Bill Purcell, who is also an avid fan of classic cars. “A lot of [the car enthusiasts] will have photo albums,” he continued, “When they bought the car it was just a rusty bucket of nuts and bolts, and what they’ve done with it from day one to when they drive it in is an amazing display of workmanship.”
