Polka Night!

A little Polish flavor gets injected into The Lodge Retirement Community.

On Tuesday, August 21, The Lodge at Cold Spring residents got a little taste of Poland. After being treated to kielbasa and sauerkraut for supper, Stan Scott stopped by with his band to share some great polka tunes. Stan and his band have been entertaining Connecticut for years with Polish folk songs, polka, and American classics injected with a little Polish flare. It was no different at The Lodge.

The band played outdoors on The Lodge’s patio. Some residents chose to sit down, relax and take it all in while others were compelled to get up and dance. The Lodge has been getting spoiled with great musical entertainment recently, as Elvis Presley (actually David Alan, Connecticut’s Premier Elvis Impersonator) was here last week. In two weeks, Jerome Riley, a former member of Herb Reed and the Platters, will coming by to sing classic Platters hits. Stan Scott and his band were a great way to bridge the gap, as it was a different style of music to enjoy. “I get kielbasa and polka music?” one resident said with a grin. “What a treat…I am Polish after all.”
