What's Cookin' at The Lodge?
Residents and Staff at The Lodge at Cold Spring show off their cooking skills!
As the old saying goes, the way to someone’s heart is through the stomach. At The Lodge at Cold Spring this past week, there were some great events centered around the culinary arts this past week. On Thursday afternoon, Chef Nick Mastracchio traveled to the Newington Senior Center to do a cooking demo for local seniors. Chef Nick dazzled the audience of 20 – 25 people with his summer-themed recipes. The dishes he showed the seniors were a Balsamic Grilled Steak Salad, a Summer Cucumber-Tomato Salad, a Garden Veggie Pasta Salad, and a Chicken Salad Veronique. Nick even brought copies of his recipes so that those who were in attendance could try their hand at it.
Later that day, The Lodge residents had their 4th Annual Authentic Italian Pasta Dinner. A select few residents made a large batch of meatballs, with family recipes passed down through the generations. Community Manager Richard Restiano put his cooking skills to the test by becoming guest chef for the special dinner. Richard cooked the meatballs and pasta, and also prepared the appetizers. With Italian music flowing into the halls from the room where it took place, residents and staff shared stories, laughs, and some great food. To top it all off, the event was ended with a delicious spumoni dessert! With those great events, everyone’s faces were full of joy, and their stomachs were full of food.
