Wii Are Family

Lodge at Cold Spring Residents take on fellow senior citizens at a friendly game of Nintendo Wii Bowling.

Who says you lose your competitive touch when you’re older? It was a normal, quiet weekday afternoon at The Lodge at Cold Spring, when out of nowhere noise began to ring out from the second floor. Employees looked up from their computers once they heard all of the commotion, and went upstairs to see what was going on. It was like there was a bowling alley right in the TV room, as Lodge residents were taking on Cromwell seniors in Nintendo Wii Bowling.

Even though it was a virtual experience, both teams were having a blast playing. Cheers would fill the hallway whenever someone from either team got a strike, and moans would follow if somebody got a split. The Lodge residents love Wii Bowling. Every week, two volunteers come to play friendly games with the residents, and just recently, monthly “residents vs. staff” games have been scheduled. The staff gets into it just as much, if not more, than residents do. Who needs a 10lb. bowling ball when you can bring the lanes right to your home?
