Car Hits State Police Cruiser in Glastonbury

State police were emphasizing the "Move Over Law" after a cruiser was hit in Glastonbury.

GLASTONBURY, CT — State police were reminding motorists of Connecticut's "Move Over Law" after a car slammed into a cruiser on Route 2 Sunday morning.

No troopers were hurt and the driver sustained a minor injury, state police said.

The crash was on the eastbound side of the highway and state police said they are still investigating what happened.

According to the Move Over Law,

“Any operator of a motor vehicle on a highway when approaching one or more stationary emergency vehicles located on the shoulder, lane or breakdown lane of such highway shall (1) immediately reduce speed to a reasonable level below the posted speed limit, and (2) if traveling in the lane adjacent to the shoulder, lane or breakdown lain containing such emergency vehicle, move such motor vehicle over one lane, unless such movement would be unreasonable or unsafe.”
