Connecticut Businesses And Residents Encouraged To Conserve Water Due To Drought
Reductions in outdoor water use are encouraged as the best way to meet conservation goals.

On August 24, the State of CT declared an Incipient Drought for the 4 northern counties, including Hartford County, Litchfield, Tolland, and Windham. Incipient Drought (stage 2) represents an emerging drought event and encourages water conservation communication and preparation for mitigation actions if conditions worsen.

Since current conditions indicate significant dryness across the state, all Connecticut residents and businesses are requested to voluntarily reduce water demand. Reductions in outdoor water use are encouraged as the best way to meet conservation goals.
The Connecticut Water Planning Council recommends that residents and businesses in Stage 2 locations like Glastonbury are asked to voluntarily take the following measures to aid in minimizing future drought impact:

- Reduce automatic outdoor irrigation
- Postpone the planting of any new lawns or vegetation
- Minimize overall water use by fixing leaky plumbing and fixtures
- Follow any additional conservation requests issued by water suppliers or municipalities
