📰 News we're reading

• Frontier Expanding Fiber-Optic Network In Glastonbury With Utility Work Planned (patch.com) — Glastonbury residents will see Frontier crews working this year as the company expands its fiber‑optic network with underground utility construction across several neighborhoods, starting near Hopewell and Matson Hill roads. Multiple streets are scheduled for phased work through the fall, with more installation planned around Fern Street once dates are set. Neighbors are urged to watch for utility markings and flyers, and to contact the town engineering department with questions.

• Glastonbury To Replace Sanitary Sewer Force Main On Cider Mill Road (patch.com) — Expect construction and lane disruption on Cider Mill Road soon, as Glastonbury replaces about 1,000 feet of sanitary sewer force main between the pump station and West Ledge Road starting around Sept. 1. Work should last up to 30 days, with sewer service, emergency access, and school bus routes maintained, but drivers and nearby residents should watch for trenching, temporary driveway ramps, and crews in the roadway.

• Police: Woman made fraudulent withdrawal at Connecticut bank after being arrested the same day (wfsb.com) — Glastonbury police worked with Wethersfield officers after a Bronx woman allegedly made fraudulent withdrawals at banks in both towns on the same December 2024 day. She was later taken into custody from Rikers Island on a warrant and now faces multiple fraud, identity theft, and impersonation charges tied to a $3,500 withdrawal in Wethersfield.
