GLASTONBURY, CT — A coyote incident in a Glastonbury residential area last week is prompting officials to issue a warning about the presence of the animal in town.

The incident took place last week. According to Glastonbury Animal Control officials, several coyotes traveling in a pack were trying to jump a fence to get at two large dogs in a residential backyard in the Milestone Drive area.

The dogs were not harmed, animal control officials said.

Animal control officials issued a warning after the incident:

"Due to winter setting in, wildlife has more movement hunting for food. Please, stay vigilant and focused while outdoors with your beloved pets. Especially in the early morning and sunset into late evening.

"Keep your dogs on leash and keep cats inside. Use a flashlight to scope out your surrounding area and use anything that will create noise to deter them.
