GLASTONBURY, CT — A small dog was carried to safety from a burning home in Glastonbury Tuesday night, fire officials said.

The fire broke out at a duplex at 8:44 p.m. at 142 Naubuc Ave.

Glastonbury Fire Chief Michael Thurz said the fire was "stubborn" because the flames made their way inside some walls. An alert firefighter was able to locate a dog on the second floor and get it safely out of the home, he said.

In all, three people were displaced — two from a first-floor unit and one from the second floor, the chief said.

The dog was treated at the scene then and taken to a veterinary hospital by family members, Thurz said.
