Five Guys Burgers and Fries Looking at Vacant Glastonbury Friendly's
The national burger chain is considering a proposal to move into the former Friendly's restaurant on Main St. in Glastonbury.
Burgers and fries may be coming back to the vacant Friendly’s building on Main St.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries, a national burger chain known for its burgers, fresh cut French fries and shelled peanuts, is bringing a proposal before the town planning and zoning commission at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The meeting will take place at 9 a.m. in meeting room A of town hall.

The company’s architect will be presenting a plan to renovate the former Friendly’s at 2944 Main St. into a new Five Guys restaurant. If the plan is ultimately approved, the Glastonbury Five Guys will be the fifth location east of the river. The national chain also has locations in East Lyme, Groton, Mystic and Norwich. There are 16 Five Guys restaurants throughout Connecticut, the company’s website said.
The company originally looked at moving into Glastonbury at the site of the former Chikurin restaurant, but ultimately declined to move forward with the project.
