Glastonbury Car Fire Linked to Griswold Fatal House Blaze: Update

State police were investigating linked fires in Glastonbury and Griswold.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A burning, abandoned car found at Glastonbury apartment complex has been linked to a fatal house fire in Griswold, state police said Wednesday.

At about 5:15 a.m., troopers responded to 70 Kenwood Estates in Griswold for a fully-involved house fire, state police said.

One person was found deceased in the residence, state police said.

State Police detectives from the CSP Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and Eastern District Major Crime responded to the scene and will assist with the investigation, authorities said.

Also on Wednesday morning, detectives from the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit were requested by Glastonbury police and fire officials to assist with the investigation of a no-injury, abandoned car fire at 40 Nanel Drive, the Glastonbury Luxury Apartments.

Through the course of the initial investigation detectives found that the vehicle is associated with the house fire in Griswold, state police said.

On Wednesday evening, detectives located a second deceased body in the residence in Griswold.

The Office of the Chief Medical examiner will be conducting a post mortem examination to determine the cause and manner of death and to assist with positive identity of the body, a state police spokesman said.

The investigation remains active and the identity of the victims is being withheld, he said, citing the investigation.

State police did say there is a "person of interest" in the case.
