GLASTONBURY, CT — A local woman was recently reunited with a Glastonbury police officer who helped save her life six months ago.

On April 24, GPD officers responded to the Riverfront Community Center after receiving a call about a young woman who had experienced a "sudden cardiac arrest." Agent Peter Brander was the first officer on scene and immediately began CPR and attached a defibrillator to the woman, police said.

Officer Christian Thomas arrived shortly thereafter and assisted with a "rescue breathing" procedure, police said.

Several days later, the woman's family contacted the Glastonbury Police Department with an update — Alexa survived the ordeal and the family credited quick actions taken by first responders as a key element.

After a lengthy recovery period, Brander was recently able to meet Alexa and her family.

Alexa joined Brander for a ride along, patrolling Glastonbury and responding to calls for service together.
