Glastonbury Cops Score Stolen Car Arrests, Plate Reader Gets Assist

It wasn't a happy drive-through in Glastonbury last week for two suspected car thieves, according to an arrest report.

GLASTONBURY, CT — It wan't a very happy happy meal last Friday for two suspected car thieves in Glastonbury and police are crediting a license plate reader with the apprehension.

According to an arrest report, at 2:40 a.m. on April 19, a license plate reader alerted officers to a stolen vehicle traveling south on Main Street. The vehicle was later located in the McDonald's parking lot at 2915 Main St., according to an arrest report.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Waterbury resident Omar Brooks, was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, police said.

The passenger, identified as Victor Ramos, 28, of East Hartford, was removed from the vehicle and approximately 10 ounces of individually packaged marijuana was located inside. He was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, plus the sale of a controlled substance, according to an arrest report.
